Student Program Coordinator - Ruth Sypes

Welcome to the Child Health medical student education office.   The Medical Student Coordinator is Ruth Sypes and her office is located in Room N725.     The M-3 Child Health clerkship is divided into four weeks of inpatient and four weeks of outpatient.   The inpatient portion consists of 3 weeks of wards and one week of Well Baby Nursery (nursery located at Columbia Regional Hospital).     The outpatient portion is divided into two weeks with a primary care pediatrician and 2 weeks with a sub-specialist.   The clerkship is only available to M-3 students enrolled in the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.

 

There are many M-4 four-week electives available to medical students.   M-4s students at the University of Missouri-Columbia are required to take 32 weeks of electives (12 weeks of Advanced Selectives; 4 weeks of Advanced Biomedical Sciences electives; and 16 weeks of general electives.   The M-4 students enrolled in the UMC School of Medicine will have first priority in choosing the electives.   Then the electives will be available for visiting students – pending an approval process through the Office of Medical Education and then the Child Health  Clerkship Director.    Visiting students should contact  the Office of Medical Education at 573-882-2925.
