| The Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment Disorders provides research and support for families living with Autism. Founded in 2005, the center began offering services for the diagnosis and treatment for Autism. In April 2007, the Thomspon Center opened the new facility at 300 Portland Street near Columbia Regional Hospital. Autistic children are provided a variety of specialists on a regular basis including neurologists, physicians, psychologists, special educators, physical therapists, speech/language therapists, occupational therapists, nurses and dieticians. With recent studies indicating that as manay as one in 150 children will develop an autism spectrum disorder, researchers at the Thompson Center hope their findings will lead to improved diagnosis and interventions for Autism | ||||||||||
